The Lion, the Scot and Mebalwe

Join us for a celebration of Art, Food and Live Music!

Pick up a copy of ‘Between the Myths and Memories’ a new creative writing project by artist Natasha Ruwona and writer Clementine Ewokolo Burnley.

Listen to pop, reggae, seben/rumba, Afrobeats and Afro-Congo music, performed live by The Gig Group, a band of Congolese musicians living in Scotland.

Within the permanent museum exhibition, a mixed media painting by Josie Ko entitled 'Glittering Hidden Figures' and a new touch screen exhibit co-curated by the group will be unveiled to public for the first time.

This event is organised by the David Livingstone Birthplace Community-led research group. The group consists of 6 participants of African, Caribbean and South Asian heritage who have been researching objects in the David Livingstone Birthplace Muesum collection to develop new creative projects that challenge and expand on established representations of diaspora experiences. As part of the Exchange Project in partnership with the National Museum of Scotland and the National Maritime Museum.
