David Livingstone Birthplace

Audio Tour for Children

Welcome to the David Livingstone Birthplace Children's Audio Tour!

This audio tour was made for young visitors to listen to in the museum as they explore and discover. Listen as the pupils at David Livingstone Memorial Primary pick out objects and stories from the museum that interest them and help us teach their histories.

Pick up a free map from the museum reception and listen to the audio clips below. Each audio clip is between 1 to 5 minutes long. You can listen on your phone and headphones, or tablets and headphones are available for loan from reception.

You will hear about life in a Victorian factory, hear the national instrument of Zimbabwe, and listen to a reading from crew member Jacob Wainwright’s diaries of his expeditions in southern Africa.

You will also learn about the unexpected uses of poison arrows and the cast of an arm bone!
