Park and Trails

The park is a wonderful community resource, a natural habitat for otters, badgers and heron. It’s an essential part of the David Livingstone Birthplace experience. The remains of Blantyre Works Village add an evocative reminder of Livingstone’s formative early years.

Whilst the Birthplace Project Renovations are taking place the we are currently closed, however, the parkland and grounds are open 7 days a week for visitors to come and enjoy (and are free to visit).

We are very grateful to our key funders the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic Environment Scotland and the Scottish Government for their support in helping us deliver the Birthplace Project. Note: Please note that David Livingstone Birthplace (and the David Livingstone Trust) is no longer part of National Trust Scotland (NTS). NTS members will therefore no longer receive discounted/free entry to the Birthplace Museum.
