We are thrilled to share that we have secured funding from the Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub, an organization dedicated to empowering communities across Lanarkshire to develop and implement local solutions for a low-carbon, resilient future. The Hub, part of a network of community climate action hubs in Scotland, plays a crucial role in connecting, informing, and supporting local groups and individuals in their climate action efforts.

With this support, we at the David Livingstone Centre are excited to host a series of events in September focused on sustainability and climate change awareness:

Gardening Workshop - 9th September 2024

Join us on the 9th of September for a hands-on gardening workshop where we’ll explore sustainable practices such as polycrub construction, composting, and herb gardening. These practices not only reduce carbon footprints but also enhance local biodiversity and promote eco-friendly living. Participants will also learn essential skills in planting and growing their own vegetables and herbs. The program will end with a litter-picking exercise to help to clean our neighbourhood, therefore stressing the need of waste management in slowing down climate change.

Arts and Crafts Sessions - 10th and 17th September 2024

On the 10th and 17th of September, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, we will be hosting arts and crafts sessions. These sessions will include storytelling focused on climate change and environmental stewardship, as well as creative activities using recycled materials. These events aim to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our environment through both individual and collective action.

We invite everyone to participate in these events and join us in making a positive impact on our planet! Together, we can foster a community committed to sustainability and climate action.
