Park and Trails

The park is a wonderful community resource, a natural habitat for otters, badgers and heron. It’s an essential part of the David Livingstone Birthplace experience. The remains of Blantyre Works Village add an evocative reminder of Livingstone’s formative early years.

The parkland and grounds are open 7 days a week for visitors to come and enjoy (and are free to visit).

Nature Trails

Our grounds contain both family and individual nature trails, as well as walks and running routes.

Each route is clearly marked out by our new signage and you can also access the routes via Google Maps.

We have also marked key locations along each route with waypoints where you can stop, scan a QR Code, and learn more about the location.

We have different routes available including:

  • Family Nature Trail - a nature trail suitable for young children and has excellent accessibility access.
  • Adventurer Trail (2 km) - a nature trail suitable for all age groups, limited accessibility.

Don't forget to scan the QR Codes each waypoint to learn more.

Occasionally there are also guide walks in the grounds.
