Our Playpark Appeal
Everyone can be part of the re-development of our Exploration and Imaginative Playpark, themed around Livingstone’s African expeditions.
After thorough consultation with the local community in designing the Free Exploration and Imaginative Park we now have a design we believe to be exciting, fun and sustainable for our local community to enjoy. Our vision for the Playpark also includes it being a prime destination for tourists from further afield to come and enjoy as part of their journey through Scotland.
With a price tag of £115,000, and only £47,000 secured we have a significant shortfall to make this happen. We now invite you to show your support to the local community by sponsoring part of the equipment in this Free public park, but everyone can donate, no matter how small, to make this happen!
We are a registered Scottish charity who run the independent Museum and Grounds on behalf of our local community and visitors from further afield. We operate with limited regular external financial assistance and therefore we depend on income from museum admissions, shop and café sales, donations and the support of our wonderful volunteers. We would therefore welcome any support you can give us to help provide a Playpark for our community.
Help us provide a free public park for the Blantyre Community.
Thank you in advance for your support and for making a difference in our community.

Local Community
The David Livingstone Trust is currently restoring and developing David Livingstone's Birthplace and Parkland and making it more accessible and interactive for our communities. We hope to re-open in Summer 2020. We want this to include a re-furbished Exploration and Imaginative Playpark, themed around Livingstone's African expeditions.
Our African Community
David Livingstone’s Birthplace is a natural meeting place for African visitors to Scotland, providing the historical context to establish and strengthen our international relationships. Livingstone’s friendships with the people of Sub-Saharan Africa have created enduring relationships for Scotland, particularly between Malawi and Zambia.
Together
Investing in our community matters. Investing in our young people matters. Our playpark in Blantyre has always been a firm favourite and popular spot, but is long overdue a major update. We have co-designed the new Exploration and Imaginative playpark with the local community to provide equipment catering for their needs. It will also enable health and well-being activities, help foster community relations and support the Trust's charitable aims of providing a free public park.
Thank You!
We would like to say a big thank you to those in the local community who have supported us so far.
