The David Livingstone Trust was Deeply Saddened to Hear of the Passing of Provost Margaret Cooper

Date June 2026

Margaret had been battling cancer for some time and faced her illness with great dignity and courage. She dedicated her life to serving the people of South Lanarkshire, and public service was at the heart of everything she did.

Margaret was also a great friend of the David Livingstone Centre, serving on the Trust Board for many years. We always made sure to have her favourite bacon roll ready whenever she attended our meetings.

We have many fond memories of Margaret, including sharing much fun and laughter during the visit of HRH The Princess Royal.

Margaret’s warmth, kindness and unwavering commitment will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her friends and family at this very sad time.
