Environmental Policy
At David Livingstone Trust we are committed to the management of the potential environmental impacts resulting from our activities and aim for the prevention of pollution and continuous improvement in those activities. In recognition of this we have committed ourselves to the following which is available on our web site:
- Comply with environmental statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to our projects and operations.
- Prevent pollution and continually improve procedures and operations in order to reduce our impact on the environment
- Introduce, wherever practicable, the best environmental options and actions when planning and developing new and existing projects and operations
- Reduce consumption of energy and other natural resources, and maximise the efficiency with which they are used
- Raise awareness of all our employees on their responsibility to, and the effects of their actions on, the environment by training and discussion
- Consider the interest of our local community, and their perception of the Trust and its impact on the community
- Implement an integrated HSEQ Management system, that documents how The Trust operations are managed in respect to its HSEQ responsibilities, and which will be subject to periodic review for ensuring ongoing suitability and effectiveness
- Management and Trustees will be responsible for initially assessing then regularly reviewing The Trust’s environmental aspects and for setting objectives and targets to address those aspects identified as significant
- Present reliable information on the services offered to our visitors and customers to enable them to make an informed choice on environmental grounds
- Understand the concerns of our stakeholders, funders, visitors and employees, including their need to respond to changing public attitudes about the environment
